If You Want to Go Deeper

Created by StoryCorps, One Small Step is an effort to remind the country of the humanity in all of us—even those with whom we disagree. Learn about other organizations working to bridge divides and let’s take One Small Step toward each other.

Greater Good Science Center

Learn about why we’re divided, why it’s important to bridge difference, and take a course that will help you bridge difference in your own life through the Greater Good Science Center.

Braver Angels

Braver Angels is a national, volunteer-led movement to bring “red” and “blue” Americans together to bridge the partisan divide. With balance between conservatives and progressives built into our DNA, we work in communities, on college campuses, in the media, and in the halls of political power to bring Americans together — not to “meet in the middle,” but to grow trust, foster understanding beyond stereotypes, and build meaningful ways to participate together in our democratic republic. You can follow your One Small Step conversation with a Braver Angels 1:1 conversation with your partner if you’d like to explore your political perspectives in more depth.

New Pluralists

New Pluralists is a funder collaborative focused on supporting the growing field of practitioners, storytellers, researchers, and innovators working to foster a culture of pluralism in America. New Pluralists is committed to the vital work of healing our divisions by helping Americans recognize our shared humanity, embrace our differences, and solve challenges together.

Living Room Conversations

Living Room Conversations connects people across divides—politics, age, gender, race—and works to heal society through guided conversations proven to build understanding and transform communities. If you’ve already done a One Small Step conversation, this is a good next step.

Make America Dinner Again (Partner of Living Room Conversations)

Make America Dinner Again partners with Living Room Conversations to host small dinners that promote respectful conversations, guided activities, and delicious food shared among 6-10 guests who have differing political viewpoints, and our country’s best interests at heart.

More in Common

Not all Conservatives, Independents, and Liberals are alike. Learn about the Hidden Tribes of America and the nuances in the way we identify politically from More in Common.

Center for the Science of Moral Understanding

To increase tolerance and civility, we need to understand the nature of moral judgment and how that translates into conflict. The Center for the Science of Moral Understanding connects moral and social psychology with the related disciplines of neuroscience, political science, sociology, history, philosophy, economics, and legal studies.
