Community Training: Case Studies

University of Alaska Fairbanks’ Climate Science Center created a program to record and share the stories of climate scientists and Alaskans impacted by climate change. Staff and faculty members recorded stories from across Alaska, a selection of which will be edited and animated for use in K-12 classrooms.

Hospice Austin launched a StoryCorps Legacy partnership to record the stories of their hospice patients, families and caregivers. Hospice staff and volunteers recorded over 90 interviews and partnered with local radio station KUT to edit five clips for local broadcast.

St. Norbert College’s Cassandra Voss Center, an academic center focused on issues of identity and inclusion, wanted to create a campus-wide storytelling initiative for faculty and students. StoryCorps gave a presentation during the college’s parent weekend and also trained staff members on how to record using the StoryCorps App. Dozens of stories from across the campus were shared through the college’s StoryCorps Archive community page.
