Virtual Mobile Stop: Montana
The StoryCorps Mobile Tour is Going Virtual!
In partnership with Montana Public Radio, StoryCorps is bringing their signature recording experience to the virtual space to record, preserve, and share the stories of Montana residents.
June 3 – July 3, 2020
Now in its 15th anniversary year, the StoryCorps Mobile Tour has facilitated thousands of meaningful conversations between people who know and care about one another. To date, these face-to-face conversations have taken place in its MobileBooth: an Airstream trailer outfitted with a recording studio. For the first time, to respond to the need for social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic — while working towards its mission to help people feel more connected and less alone — StoryCorps is launching a Virtual Mobile Tour, to provide the opportunity for Montana residents to participate in the StoryCorps experience online.
Before making an appointment, please ensure you have:
- A strong internet connection
- A computer with a camera and microphone set-up (can be built in)
- The platform we’re using will work with most smartphones, but if you have access to a computer, we strongly recommend using that instead
- The contact information for your conversation partner
- If you do not have a partner, please note that in your reservation and we will do our best to provide one for you
All appointments are currently booked! In cases of cancellations, we will call people on our waitlist. To add yourself to the list, please click the red button below.
What to Expect
StoryCorps’ Mobile team will contact everyone who will be participating by phone to go over the details of the virtual recording process and answer any technical questions. We will also do a tech check with you a few days prior to your appointment. Please be on the lookout for communications from us. You will not be allowed to participate without confirming by phone and completing the tech check. In the meantime, please check out our Virtual Step-by-Step guide.
Become a Community Partner
Our goal is to make the StoryCorps recording experience accessible to all. One way we do that is by partnering with local organizations that serve diverse populations. StoryCorps interviews celebrate the voices and milestones in your community and encourage meaningful interactions between your organization and the people you serve. Community partnerships are free of charge, and conversations can be recorded in any language.
