On February 10, 2015, three Muslim students, Yusor Mohammad Abu-Salha, 21; her husband, Deah Shaddy Barakat, 23; and her sister, Razan Mohammad Abu-Salha, 19; were shot and killed in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, by a neighbor.

Nine months before the murders, Yusor recorded a StoryCorps interview with her former schoolteacher and principal, Mussarut Jabeen.
