Military Voices Initiative: Wisconsin

In partnership with Wisconsin Public Radio, StoryCorps is bringing our signature recording experience to the virtual space to preserve the stories of veterans and their families. Sign up for a conversation between August 24 and September 4, 2020.

In response to the pandemic, this experience will take place online. Before making an appointment, please ensure you have:

  • A strong internet connection
  • A computer with a camera and microphone set-up (can be built-in)
    • The platform we’re using will work with most smartphones, but if you have access to a computer, we strongly recommend using that instead.
  • The contact information for your conversation partner
    • If you do not have a partner, please note that in your reservation and we will do our best to provide one for you.

What to Expect

StoryCorps’ Military Voices team will contact everyone who will be participating by phone to go over the details of the virtual recording process and answer any technical questions. Please be on the lookout for communications from us. In order to participate, you are required to first confirm by phone and complete the tech check.

For the Public: Virtual Listening Party

Join StoryCorps and WPR for a virtual listening party on July 23, 2020 at 7:00pm where we will share stories from the Military Voices Initiative. Learn about the StoryCorps process, hear past stories from the project, and celebrate the many ways that stories bring people together during difficult times. Register and join us here.

Become a Community Partner

Our goal is to make the StoryCorps recording experience accessible to all. One way we do that is by partnering with local organizations that serve diverse populations. StoryCorps interviews celebrate the voices and milestones in your community and encourage meaningful interactions between your organization and the people you serve. Community partnerships are free of charge, and conversations can be recorded in any language.
