Term of Employment:  (specific date TBD)

Position Overview:

StoryCorps’ Military Voices Initiative (MVI) is a twelve-month project designed to honor the stories of veterans, service members, and their families.

Over the last ten years, 2.4 million men and women have served in Iraq and Afghanistan. The military community knows well the challenges of multiple deployments, combat injuries, and long-awaited homecomings.  Yet few civilians truly understand the complex realities of our troops’ service and sacrifice.

The Military Voices Initiative will amplify the stories of our veterans, service members, and families, and let them know that we—as a nation—are listening.

MVI partners with a number of organizations including but not limited to: Veteran Centers, Veteran Service Organizations, family readiness and support groups, educational institutions, and a variety of specialized nonprofit organizations.  We assist these organizations in planning and executing recording days, and work with them to ensure that our services are meaningful for participants.   Candidates with experience working within these types of organizations and/or supporting MVI’s target populations are strongly preferred.  Veterans and members of military families are also strongly encouraged to apply.

StoryCorps is committed to telling stories from a wide range of American voices—from our Griot Initiative, a program dedicated to recording the stories of African Americans to our Historias Initiative, a program dedicated to recording the stories of Latinos, We are equally committed to representing the plurality of voices in the military community. Candidates with work experience in diverse communities are strongly encouraged to apply.
