Reports To: Associate Director, Institutional Giving
Status: Full-Time, Regular
Founded in 2003 by MacArthur Fellow Dave Isay, StoryCorps has given more than 400,000 people the chance to record interviews about their lives, pass wisdom from one generation to the next, and leave a legacy for the future. StoryCorps shares edited excerpts of these interviews through popular weekly NPR broadcasts, animated shorts, digital platforms, and bestselling books. We do this to remind one another of our shared humanity, to strengthen and build the connections between people, to teach the value of listening, and to weave into the fabric of our culture the understanding that everyone’s story matters.
StoryCorps’ annual institutional portfolio of over $5 million comprises diverse funders, including leading foundations and government agencies who provide large-scale support for our recording booths, journalists, special initiatives, and unrestricted support as well as smaller grants for more bespoke storytelling projects that require significant time and effort to develop and steward. The Associate Manager, Institutional Giving will play a supportive role in maintaining and expanding philanthropic income from private foundations, public agencies, elected officials, as well as major individual donors. The Associate Manager’s responsibilities will include donor prospecting, tracking donor activity in the development database, managing the institutional giving calendar, writing donor reports, and preparing grants.
