“I think it’s important that people have conversations about their differing views— and get along despite them—so it’s cool that we get to do that with One Small Step.”
-Richmond One Small Step Participant

StoryCorps welcomes Richmonders to apply to be matched with fellow residents from across the political divide for conversations about their lives–not about politics. The conversation invites two people who don’t know each other—and may not think they have anything in common—to take a moment to discover their shared humanity.

Apply to be Matched in Richmond
Most of our interviews use StoryCorps’ virtual recording tools to facilitate conversations between strangers. Our priority is to match you with another member of your local community, but due to demand and availability, you may be matched with someone in a different city or region.

Partner with us
StoryCorps is looking for partners who represent various political backgrounds and who can recruit, orient, and enlist their constituents to record interviews. If you are interested in working side-by-side with StoryCorps to capture these exciting and enriching conversations, please contact us at [email protected].
