“I don’t understand the fear of somebody that’s different. I think the way to improve this is for people to have more experience with those who are different from them.”

-Oklahoma City One Small Step Participant

Oklahoma City is one of four communities across the country to be chosen to lead this initiative—join us as we show the country what it means to have the courage to listen.

StoryCorps welcomes Oklahoma City residents to apply to be matched with fellow residents from across the political divide for conversations about their lives–not to debate politics. The conversation invites two people who don’t know each other—and may not think they have anything in common—to take a moment to discover their shared humanity.

Apply to be Matched in Oklahoma City

Most of our interviews use StoryCorps’ virtual recording tools to facilitate conversations between strangers. Our priority is to match you with another member of your local community, but due to demand and availability, you may be matched with someone in a different city or region.
