How To Participate

One Small Step brings strangers with different political views together to record a 50-minute conversation—not to debate politics, but to learn more about who we are as people. Created by StoryCorps, One Small Step is an effort to remind the country of the humanity in all of us—even those with whom we disagree.

SIGN UP TO BE MATCHED

Anyone from across the United States can participate in One Small Step. You simply need to complete a matching questionnaire. We will only use the information you share in the application to match you with a conversation partner and to share email updates about One Small Step (our privacy policy is here). Currently, the conversations are largely taking place online using our easy-to-use virtual recording platform.

WHAT ARE PARTICIPANTS SAYING ABOUT THEIR ONE SMALL STEP EXPERIENCE?

“This is truly meaningful work. At a time in our country when we all might feel powerless, conducting conversations that build bridges is critical and powerful.”
– Community Partner from Wichita, KS
