Dear StoryCorps Alum,
As an Alum, you know how special it is to connect and listen to a loved one--especially around the holidays.
No matter how you celebrate this season, we hope you'll include the spirit of StoryCorps in your holidays. We encourage all Alumni to participate in StoryCorps' third annual National Day of Listening on November 26 (more details below).
And during this season of giving, we hope you'll make a special gift to StoryCorps to help StoryCorps record, share, and preserve the stories of our lives.
Wishing you a warm and happy holiday season from all of us at StoryCorps,
Christa Orth StoryCorps Alumni Coordinator 646-723-7020 ext. 77 alumni@storycorps.org

THIRD ANNUAL NATIONAL DAY OF LISTENING
November 26, 2010
Through the National Day of Listening, StoryCorps encourages Americans of all backgrounds and beliefs to interview a friend, loved one, or member of their community on the day after Thanksgiving. We hope you, as a StoryCorps Alum, will take time to record a conversation with someone who is important to you. It's a wonderful (and inexpensive) gift you can give this holiday season!
Check out nationaldayoflistening.org for a free Do-It-Yourself Instruction Guide that includes recording recommendations, a list of great questions to ask, and easy ideas for preserving and sharing interviews.
StoryCorps is very grateful to the Fetzer Institute, dedicated to promoting the values of love, forgiveness, and compassion in everyday life, for sponsoring the 2010 National Day of Listening.

Stay tuned! NPR will broadcast a special series of National Day of Listening interviews all next week.

We've heard dozens of great stories from participants in our organization's day of recording with StoryCorps. Two men swear it was a life-changing experience. Another pair--who previously didn't get along--had revelatory experiences. They discovered each other's humanity, and now have a new kind of relationship. Wow.

What a unique, exciting experience. I never dreamed my life story would be interesting enough to be included in the Library of Congress.

Though my father and I have a close relationship, I still learned things about him and our family's history during our StoryCorps interview. I was surprised at the emotion that rose up as we brought that conversation to an end. Thank you for those 40 minutes and for a recording that everyone in my family will treasure.
