My name is Monique Morris and I am 15 years old. I attend Cesar Chavez Public Charter School for Public Policy. One thing that people wouldn’t know about me just by looking at me is that I am in the 10th grade, and you wanna know why? Because I’m short. A lot of my family members ask me, am I going to the 6th grade, am I going to the 7th grade? I’m actually in the 10th grade, will be going to the 11th next year.
I was walking down Minnesota Avenue a couple of weeks ago and a lady asked me, do I wanna be in a beauty pageant? And I was like, sure, so she said, OK how old are you? And I said I’m 15 years old. So she said well, the ages are from 8-12, it’s a little kid’s beauty pageant. But she felt so bad and I was like, it’s not your fault. I actually look like I could be 12 years old because of my height. But never judge no one by their height! You always ask questions before trying to state facts. Yeah. I find it funny a little bit, just ‘cuz I’m short, but you know what, I’m gonna grow one day.
