Carol Safir (CS): My mother, she wanted to take a vacation to this place in the Poconos, and I didn't want to go. The very first night were there, I said, I'm not leaving this room. And I'll starve until you put me on a bus going back to New York. So she goes down to dinner. And who does she meet? Your father, who happens to be our waiter. She thinks to herself, Well, gee, he looks like a nice boy. Maybe if I get her down to see that there are these young waiters maybe she'll be interested in staying.

So she says to him, Son, you go to college?

He says, Yeah.

What're you going to do?

I'm gonna be a lawyer.

Very nice. You here for the summer?

All summer.

She says, That's nice. What goes on tonight?

He says, Oh, They have this mingler dance.

So, what happened was, your grandmother (and I don't know, daddy insists it was 20 bucks, but I think grandma probably gave him 5 dollars [laughs]) she says, I'm gonna get my daughter to go down there. Do me a favor say hello to her, introduce yourself, tell her you're our waiter. She figured that maybe he'd turn my head. Well, she convinced me to go down there. And Daddy earned his 5 dollars he bought me a coke [laughs]. And that's how it all started. We got married yeah, almost three and a half years later.
