Record Your Story

You can participate in StoryCorps Historias by making a reservation to record interviews wherever StoryCorps is located. Our trained staff will help you through every step of the reservation and recording process. Follow these 3 steps to get started:

Step 1: Make a reservation

It’s easy to record an interview with someone important in your life. First, think of a person whose stories or life experiences you would like to hear, or someone who would like to hear yours. Then find the location nearest you and call us to reserve an appointment.

Step 2: Prepare for your session

Read what to expect and visit our great questions page.

Step 3: Tell your story, pass it on

Bring your friend or loved one to the StoryCorps recording facility. Our trained staff will explain the process, make you feel comfortable, and sit with you during your session. You will have 40 minutes of uninterrupted time to talk openly about anything you’d like, from a favorite memory to important life questions. At the end of your recording session, you’ll take home a free broadcast-quality CD. With your permission, a copy will be archived at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress.

Can’t Come to Us?

If there is no location near you, you can still participate in StoryCorps Historias. To learn about our other recording services, please contact Gabriel Higuera at 646-723-7020 ext. 47, or email ghiguera@storycorps.org.

You can also use our free Do-It-Yourself Guide to record your own interviews at home. While StoryCorps cannot preserve Do-It-Yourself interviews in our archive, this guide will show you how to start your own archive at home.
