The Cesar Chavez Public Charter Schools for Public Policy provide a high quality public school option for young people residing in the District of Columbia’s most impoverished and underserved communities. The Chavez schools prepare D.C. students to succeed in competitive colleges so that they can use their lives to make a positive difference in the world. At Chavez Prep, StoryCorpsU is being implemented in three 9th grade history classes. At Parkside High School, StoryCorpsU will be a part of the College Prep Advisory Program (CPA) in six 10th grade classes.
Last month, StoryCorps traveled to the Philadelphia Folklore Project to record the stories of a group of students who were victims of targeted attacks.
