Introduction to StoryCorps: A Lesson Plan
The StoryCorpsU “Introduction to StoryCorps Lesson Plan” is a simple classroom exercise designed to teach students basic interviewing and storytelling skills. In this exercise, students are asked to participate effectively in a range of interactions (one-on-one and in groups), exchanging information to advance a discussion and to build on the input of others. The StoryCorps “One-Lesson Workshop” is free for anyone to use.
A customizable lesson plan for students in grades 8-12 that:
- Introduces students to the history and mission of StoryCorps
- Teaches basic skills in interviewing and storytelling
- Includes a list of recommended recordings, organized by themes of relevance and interest to young people
