We almost missed our fearless leader’s appearance as Person of the Week on network news. Fortunately, we stumbled upon The Big Screen, where we found the highest concentration of televisions in Bethesda, MD. We smooth-talked sales rep into tuning in.

Big first day

We started the day here in Washington, DC, with a couple of early interviews and then on to an inspiring press conference, led by Dave Isay and with a video appearance by the great Studs Terkel.

Past StoryCorps participants Danny and Annie Perasa were on hand, and Danny told us that for him, StoryCorps has been "more important than the doctor who delivered me."

Some of the people who participated today were the owners of a restaurant that has been around for four generations, a go-go music legend, and a Polish countess.

The MobileBooth is currently in Newark, New Jersey, getting buffed.
Seriously. Emily, our fearless outreach coordinator, headed out
this afternoon with a bag of buffing tools. We hope to get a shininess
report when she returns tomorrow.
