About Virginia
Virginia came to StoryCorps through a series of fortunate events, much like she came to all important places/stages in her life. At a young age she moved from Peru to Miami, FL and after high school relocated to improbable western Massachusetts to attend Amherst College, where she received her B.A. in History and French. As an undergrad, she pursued interests in advocacy, journalism, and Latin American and Latin@ studies and was introduced to power naps, all of which blew her mind and forever changed her take on life. Prior to moving to Brooklyn and joining StoryCorps, Virginia worked as a paralegal at the Florida Immigrant Advocacy Center helping build legal defense cases for undocumented immigrant youth in detention. Her work as a Mobile Facilitator is slowly but steadily restoring her faith in people.
