StoryCorps is grateful for the outpouring of interest from our volunteers. At present we are seeking volunteers during the National Day of Listening, as well as during regular business hours in our Brooklyn office. (Please note that volunteer opportunities on the Mobile Tour are coordinated by the local public radio station at each stop.)
Join the Volunteer Corps for the National Day of Listening
Our first-ever National Day of Listening was celebrated on Friday, November 28, 2008. We asked everyday people across the country to download our free Do-It-Yourself Instruction Guide, sit down with a loved one – like a grandmother, friend, or neighbor – and record their own conversations and stories during the National Day of Listening.
Volunteer in 2009
Help us bring the StoryCorps experience to more people and communities across the country. Volunteer for the National Day of Listening on November 27, 2009, by downloading our free Community Service Toolkit to record interviews in your community. The toolkit has everything you need, including step-by-step recording instructions, equipment recommendations, and a list of great questions.
Don’t forget to share your volunteer experience with us!
Volunteer at our Brooklyn office
StoryCorps is seeking volunteers during regular business hours (M – F, 9:30 am – 5:30 pm) at our office in Fort Greene, Brooklyn to help archive, perform community outreach, and help our office grow. If you are available to volunteer at our office during these times, please fill out an online inquiry form and we will add you to our volunteer list.
Due to demand and space limitations, we may not be able to accommodate you immediately. However, we will notify you if any new volunteer opportunities arise. If you are unable to come to our office on a volunteer basis, we encourage you to apply for one of our internships.
