Virginia was born in Peru and grew up in Miami, FL. She graduated from Amherst College and left with a deep-seated interest in advocacy, journalism, and Latin American and Latin@ studies, all of which eventually brought her to StoryCorps as a Facilitator and then as a Site Supervisor. Previously, she worked as a paralegal at the Florida Immigrant Advocacy Center helping build legal defense cases for undocumented youth in detention. Her work on the Mobile Tour is slowly but steadily restoring her faith in people.
