Lauren Waits is a child advocate, videographer, and sixth generation Georgian. Steeped in the Southern storytelling traditions of her family, Lauren joined StoryCorps Atlanta to help document voices of the diverse, contemporary South. She has previously served as policy director at Voices for Georgia's Children, director of the ChoicePoint Foundation, and an analyst of Medicaid policy and health programs for the uninsured. Lauren earned her undergraduate degree in African Art History at Yale, and a Master of Science in Health Policy and Management from Harvard. She is proudest of being the mother of three children, making delicious homemade bread, and learning to speak Spanish at the age of 42.
