StoryBooth Intern

StoryCorps operates permanent and multi-year recording booths in cities across the country (currently in New York City, at WABE in Atlanta, and at the Contemporary Jewish Museum in
San Francisco, CA).

By collecting interviews in these cities through community outreach and public appointments, hosting public events and offering additional services, our StoryBooths bring the StoryCorps experience to as many diverse populations as possible.

The StoryBooth Intern is based out of our Brooklyn office and assists the StoryBooth Site Supervisors with the day-to-day operation of these programs.

Duties & Responsibilities

This internship will take place in the afternoons (1:30–5:30 pm), Monday through Friday, for a total of 20 hours per week.

Responsibilities may include, but will not be limited to:

  • Research and identify new outreach opportunities in StoryBooth locations
  • Assist in maintaining and developing relationships with current and possible partners in StoryBooth locations
  • Prepare and participate in presentations and events to expand our community presence
  • Collect feedback from StoryBooth partners
  • Assist in planning special events at our StoryBooth locations
  • Make reminder calls to participants at our StoryBooth locations to confirm appointments and answer questions as needed
  • Assist StoryBooth Site Supervisors in processing interview material collected through the StoryBooth and Community Outreach StoryKits
  • Assist in tracking and reporting all StoryBooth related information including outreach activities, appointment information and general inquiries
  • General administrative tasks as needed

Value of the Internship

The StoryBooth Internship provides experience in public relations and customer service. The StoryBooth Intern will gain an understanding of community outreach and organization, and gain experience in activities involved in the planning, coordination, and execution of a large-scale oral history project.
