Participant Relations Intern
The Participant Relations Intern is an integral part of the StoryCorps team. As a Participant Relations intern, you will have the opportunity to speak with participants on a daily basis and share with them information about the StoryCorps project, interview reservations, and the interview process. In many cases, you will be the first StoryCorps representative that participants speak with, and your role is incredibly important in ensuring the integrity of StoryCorps.
Duties & Responsibilities
Projects may include, but will not be limited to:
- Speak and correspond with StoryCorps participants on a daily basis to create, confirm and monitor interview reservations
- Log and respond to public queries about StoryCorps
- Provide additional participants assistance through mailings, email and phone support
- General administrative tasks as needed
- Provide weekly quality assurance screens of the StoryCorps call center
- Support data collection and reporting on monthly Participant Surveys
- Coordinate volunteers for department support needs
- Contribute case studies of Customer Service scenarios for staff trainings and development
- Share ideas for expanding Participant Relations functions

- Facility with Mac computers and Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel preferred
- Background and interest in customer service is a plus
- Candidates with education or interest in communications, customer service, and non-profit operations are strongly encouraged to apply
Goals of the Internship
At the completion of the internship, the intern will understand the basic operations of a non-profit business through key customer service, communications, and systems development and training. The intern will be able to play a critical role in the daily feedback and interest received from listeners and participants across the nation.
