Human Resources Intern

StoryCorps’ Human Resources Department is responsible for supporting our dynamic and creative workforce.

The HR Intern will gain a solid understanding of how to execute successful staff recruitment activities. The HR Intern will also coordinate orientation, training, and professional development activities for StoryCorps staff, and will develop and implement recommendations for improvements to our training offerings.

The HR Intern will also complete additional projects to support StoryCorps staff and management; these may include creating a StoryCorps photo directory, establishing a Facilitator Alumni “social network,” performing research and developing recommendations for HR initiatives/programs, and completing other tasks to support the Human Resources Department and the Finance & Administration division of StoryCorps, as assigned.

The HR Intern reports to the Senior Coordinator, Human Resources.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist with intern and employee recruitment
  • Provide administrative and logistical support for training and orientation sessions
  • Distribute, collect and review evaluations and feedback from StoryCorps’ Facilitator Training Program, New Hire Orientation, and Internship Program, and develop and implement recommendations for improvements
  • Collaborate with HR and other departments to edit and enhance the StoryCorps Facilitator Manual
  • Perform other tasks to support the HR department, the Finance & Administration division, and StoryCorps, as assigned

Goals of the Internship

The HR Intern will gain hands-on training and experience in the operations of a successful Human Resources function. The Internship provides experience in planning and executing staff recruitment, orientation, and training programs in a collaborative and creative organizational environment. The Intern will gain knowledge of StoryCorps programs and methodologies, and will become familiar with the operations of a mid-size nonprofit organization.
