Business Development Intern

The Business Development department seeks an intern to contribute to a new and growing division of StoryCorps. The Business Development team’s primary focus is arranging interview recording days with organizations and companies nationwide, from first contact to event completion.  Generating this earned income using our existing programs and services helps StoryCorps to reach more people and become a more financially sustainable organization.

Duties & Responsibilities

Projects may include, but will not be limited to:

  • Research potential partner organizations and relevant conferences, and initiate first contacts.
  • Respond to web inquires from interested organizations, and assist with on-going external communications.
  • Provide event planning support for interview recording days.
  • Manage and conduct follow up with previous partner organizations.
  • Maintain project and workflow details in the database.
  • Contribute to the upkeep and improvement of the department’s marketing and communication tools, including brochures and website pages.

Ideal Candidate

  • Strong communication skills; particularly strong writing ability
  • Superb attention to detail and organizational ability
  • Strong Internet research skills
  • Basic proficiency with computers is required; experience with Excel and database software is helpful, as is Mac OSX experience
  • Interest in Nonprofit Development/Fundraising, Marketing, or Nonprofit Management
